The Citation Group has appointed Steve Homan as its new Chief Technology and Data Officer.

Homan joins the company with more than 25 years’ experience in PE-backed SaaS businesses.

He built a marketplace from the ground up at The Instant Group, led a 220-strong engineering team at Metapack through to its successful sale, and is currently co-founder of AI My Site. He has also held senior technology roles at Daily Mail Group and Fitness First.

Steve’s appointment brings hands-on AI-native engineering practice into the heart of the business, including new AI-powered capabilities already taking shape across the Group’s product suite – from AI-assisted content creation in the eLearning platform to brand new AI features in our HR software.

The appointment comes during a period of sustained growth for The Citation Group, as the business continues to invest in technology and AI to support its expanding client base across the UK, Canada and Australia.

Chris Morris, CEO of The Citation Group, said: “We’re investing heavily in AI, including expanding our dedicated AI team, and Steve is the perfect leader to drive that forward.

“He’s got a track record of building engineering teams that scale fast and deliver commercially. That’s exactly what we need to take our technology and data strategy into its next phase.”

Steve Homan commented: “There’s a lot to build on at The Citation Group – strong tech, fantastic products, and real ambition behind the growth of the last few years.

“I’ve spent time working hands-on with AI-native tooling, building first-hand fluency in how it’s reshaping what teams can deliver and at what pace. I’m looking forward to bringing that experience into a business that’s scaling as fast as The Citation Group is.”
