The Citation Group is delighted to announce the acquisition of The Xact Group, a leading independent compliance business, providing health & safety and employment law solutions to a number of important sectors including Vets, Pharmacies, Golf Clubs and the Insurance sector.

Xact began offering health and safety consultancy services in 2000, led by Maurice Hammond and Duncan Harkness, with Chris Hammond joining the company in 2008 and becoming Managing Director in 2019. Today Xact has a 1,100-strong client list, which will further increase The Citation Group’s 40,000+, UK SME base. Xact provides its customers with access to its proprietary online safety management system (Mercury), which further complements The Citation Group’s technology offering, backed up by a highly experienced team of qualified professionals.

The Citation Group will work with Chris Hammond and the rest of the Xact team to build on the strong referral partnership network and sector specialisms which the business has established. As part of the Group, Xact will continue to develop its highly valuable, technology-enabled, compliance solutions to small and mid-sized businesses.

The Citation Group CEO, Chris Morris commented on the acquisition:

“Xact is a highly complementary acquisition for The Citation Group and we are delighted to have completed, having tracked them for a number of years. We look forward to working with and supporting Chris and the rest of the team over the coming months and years as they continue to build on the strong sector positions and referral network partnerships they have successfully established.

This acquisition follows on from a very busy 2019 where we grew the business by over 50%, added 3 high quality businesses to the Group in Southalls, Avec and Food Alert, and introduced a number of new products to reinforce our position as the fastest growing and most innovative business in our industry.”

Maurice Hammond, Founder of Xact commented:

“We are delighted to be joining The Citation Group and look forward to the next phase in the development of Xact. While we have competed against them for a number of years, we have always felt that we share the same culture and values and that has been clearly evident in the past few months.”
